Implementation of the human rights-based approach in development cooperation by Czech non-governmental non-profit organizations
Stehlíková, Magda ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Košák Felcmanová, Alena (referee)
This thesis seeks to describe the development and theoretical anchoring of the concept of the human rights-based approach (HRBA) in the context of development cooperation and to examine how it is taken into account by Czech NGOs. The theoretical part focuses in particular on the still controversial issues related to the universalism and cultural relativism of human rights, as well as their mostly individualistic nature. Then, the gradual penetration of human rights into international development discourse and the role and specifics of development NGOs are described in more detail. The thesis presents theoretical insights and concrete examples of the application of the human rights-based approach by NGOs. Critical perspectives and problematic implications associated with its application by NGOs are also discussed. In the Czech environment, the implementation of the HRBA is examined through a case study of two prominent NGOs.
Homesharing pohledem nezapojených nestátních neziskových organizací
VANÍČKOVÁ, Kristýna
The thesis deals with the topic of homesharing and summarizes its implementation in the Czech Republic. The thesis sets two objectives, namely to survey the views of the representatives of non-participating non-governmental organisations (hereinafter referred to as NGOs) on the need for homesharing services in regions where homesharing is not organised; and to examine the opinion of the representatives of non-participating NGOs on the organisation of homesharing in the Czech Republic. The research is conducted through a qualitative research strategy, using semi-structured interviews. The method of deliberate (purposive) sampling was adopted to select the research population. The research sample consists of 13 managers of NGOs located in regions where homesharing is not organised and 1 programme manager of the Abakus Foundation. The analysis of the results is conducted using open coding and axial coding, and a paradigmatic model is created. The data obtained are processed using ATLAS.ti 8 software. The data analysis revealed the perceptions of the NGO representatives regarding the Czech concept of homesharing, its necessity and also its organisation. The representatives of the non-participating NGOs perceive the need for homesharing mainly in connection with the drastic lack of social services for people with autism spectrum disorder particularly in the afternoon or at the weekends. The findings indicate that homesharing has the potential to complement social services. Not all areas of the organisation of homesharing are perceived positively by NGO representatives. The results show a lack of promotion and insufficient distribution of NGOs providing homesharing. The research reveals a certain lack of interest on the part of the representatives towards the inclusion of homesharing services. The thesis contains a subjective evaluation of homesharing by NGO representatives, which can serve as feedback for NGOs organizing homesharing in the Czech Republic. The thesis can also be used as a source of information for the wider public interested in the Czech concept of homesharing.

Laryšová, Nela ; Bílková, Veronika (advisor) ; Hofmannová, Mahulena (referee) ; Trávníčková, Zuzana (referee)
Title of the dissertation: The Status of Non-Governmental Organisations in International Law on the Example of the Russian Federation Abstract The dissertation deals with the status of non-governmental organisations in international law. It approaches this issue from two perspectives. The first is the international law regulation of non-governmental organisations in the international system. The second is the question of the impact of international law on the regulation of non-governmental organisations at the national level. These two perspectives are interrelated since, without compliance with the requirements of international law at the national level, non-governmental organisations cannot be active at the international level. The dissertation demonstrates this thesis on the example of the Russian Federation, which has adopted legislation on non-governmental organisations that severely restricts their functioning and very existence in the last ten years. The first part of the dissertation examines the status and regulation of non-governmental organisations in international law. It deals with the understanding of non-governmental organisations, their historical development, and the topics that non-governmental organisations currently address in the international system. It also provides a definition of...

The primary aim of the thesis is to analyse the extent of provision of social services by public organisations (all above mentioned types), however the provision of social services by private organisations has been analysed as well, because this question is complementary to the...
Protection against Discrimination under the European Convention on Human Rights
Konoplia, Oleksandra ; Lipovský, Milan (advisor) ; Pulgret, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis is focused on the examination of the scope of Article 14 of the European Convention of Human Rights, theoretical framework, and legal basis of the concept of discrimination. The paper presents an analysis of the caselaw of the European Court on Human Rights, how the latter operationalises the issue of inequality, and which inaccuracies of interpretation it leaves. The primary aim is to challenge the system of protection against discrimination under the Article 14 as well as the role of the national actors in its development. The thesis examines the level of compliance among signatories of the Convention with its anti- discriminatory provisions and focuses on the individual capacities of the states to satisfy judgements of the European Court on Human Rights. The usage of the comparative approach also helps to analyse the role of local non-governmental organisations in the process of compliance with human rights obligations under the Convention among signatories. The thesis aims to show why the level of protection against discrimination differs from the one country to another and which obstacles they face on the path towards the respect for human rights.
